| K-5 Finals Competition will be held on March 13, 2010 from 6:00pm – 8:30pm at Acts Full Gospel Church of God In Christ, 1034 66th Avenue, Oakland CA 94621 and is a free public event. The Finals will consist of the top 35 entries from throughout the District. Only the Regional winners that advance to the Finals are sent notification for participation. The students that advance to the Finals would have preserved through two rounds of fierce competition and demonstrated excellence in their presentations: volume, pitch, phrasing, pace, modulation, and gestures. | |||
| 6-12 Finals Competition will be held on March 12, 2010 from 1:00pm – 3:30pm at Laney College Forum 900 Fallon St., Oakland CA 94607. The Finals consist of the top 15 entries from throughout the District. Only the Regional winners that advance to the Finals are sent notification for participation. The students that advance to the Finals would have preserved through two rounds of fierce competition and demonstrated excellence in their presentations: volume, pitch, phrasing, pace, modulation, and gestures. | |||
| 7-8 Expository Essay Winners will be announced during the 6-12 Finals at Laney College Forum on March 12, 2030 and awarded a Chauncey Bailey Scholarship. This is a pilot program for 7th – 8th grade only. The program has been implemented to provide students a platform to demonstrate their powerful message through the written word. Chauncey Bailey Scholarship: 1st $1000; 2nd $500; 3rd $250. |

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NON DISTRICT SCHOOLS : |
ELEGIBILITY
- All Oakland students from kindergarten through grade twelve must be provided the opportunity to participate in competition.
- All Entries are to originate from the school site.
- Online Registration Required or faxed entry forms should be signed by the School-Site Oratorical Coordinator and/or Principal.
- No coaching by students, parents, or teachers during the individual or group presentations.
